On the first day of class you will be asked
to sign a copy of the rules and regulations of the class.
We wanted to make you aware of a couple of these rules before
you signed up for the class.
You are not allowed to miss class.
All classes must be attended. If you miss a class
you must make it up and that could be at another EMT class that
would probably be very far away. If you miss more than
three classes you will automatically be dropped from class.
This is a state regulation and we are required to follow it.
Remember also that most Saturdays are considered two classes.
You must maintain a 70% average. At
the end of each module you will be required to complete a module
exam. There are 7 exams. If you fail it you will
have an attempt to retake it. Again this is a state
regulation. Also, it is a requirement of the class to
complete a workbook which will be graded periodically during the
class and there will also be quizzes.
You will have to participate in “hands on”
skill sessions, which will involve:
Lifting and Moving, touching and assessing
“patients,” being a “patient” during skill sessions, properly
applying/using the necessary equipment
You will be tested in several skill
components as a state requirement for this class.
In addition to the classroom time, you will
also be required to do a total of 10 hours hospital time
separate from the class. This will began approx 2/3
through the class and scheduled through the academy at your
convenience.
As a prerequisite for this class you will
have to take CPR healthcare provider level class with us prior
to class. The dates of the classes are included in the
registration. The cost of the class will be $15.00.
You must attend one of the CPR classes in order to start EMT
class.
The academy wanted to make everyone is
aware of these rules so they know if they will be able to
fulfill them ahead of time. If you have any questions,
please contact me.
Thank you,
